What to Bring for Your Baby

When your baby is admitted to the Neonatal Unit, staff will advise you on what to bring based on your baby’s needs and whether they were born prematurely or at term.
Items you can prepare include:

• Cotton wool
• Nappies
• WaterWipes (optional)
• Cotton buds (for premature babies)

You will also be asked to bring a small supply of clothing such as vests, hats, and babygrows.
Premature babies in incubators usually wear only a nappy so nurses can observe them easily and attach monitors. Incubators are temperature‑controlled to keep your baby warm. As your baby grows and becomes more stable, you will be able to start dressing them in vests or babygrows.

For safe sleep, please avoid placing toys in your baby’s cot as they can cause overheating.
