Aria’s Story

Our 2nd daughter Aria was born at 33 weeks and spent a total of 56 days in Kingston NNU. This was one of the most terrifying and emotional experience of our lives. I was in hospital for 7 days but when it came to leave our tiny bundle and go home this was extremely hard but I had every faith in the nurses and even though it was hard to leave our little girl there every night, we somewhat felt relief that she was being cared for by such a dedicated and loving team.
Amongst all the uncertainty the Neonatal nurses on the unit were tremendously helpful and supportive. There were many occasions when we were upset and extremely emotional but they were always there to guide us, support us, console us and provide some laughs through such a hard time.
Without their hard work and dedication to the unit we wouldn’t be where we are today with a loving, smiley, bubbly little girl who each and every day surprises us how strong and resilient these little fighters can be.
I would also like to say that the facilities and support with breastfeeding is superb especially through the long haul of expressing. The friendships made with other mums within the unit in the express room is second to none. The room enables you to talk to other mums who are experiencing what you’re going through and offers a little relief from the sometimes insanity of the beeping machines. We have definitely made friends for life!
No words came explain our gratitude for these hard working individuals.
