Public transport
We strongly recommend that patients and visitors use public transport to get to the hospital. The Trust is well served by both buses and trains.
Travelling by train
The nearest station to Kingston Hospital is Norbiton. The hospital is a short walk (less than five minutes) from the station along Coombe Road or Wolverton Avenue.
Norbiton Station is served by South Western Railway and receives regular services into and out of London Waterloo. Services to Norbiton run on the Kingston Loop and the Shepperton line.

Travelling by bus

Travelling by bike
There are bicycle storage facilities where visitors can secure their bikes.
The hospital appears on the free Transport for London Cycle Guides for areas 9 and 10.
Travelling by motorcycle
There is parking available on site for motor cycles which is free of charge as long as you park in the designated areas by the Royal Eye Unit or next to the sheltered bicycle rack to the right of the Hospital’s Main Entrance.
Travelling by taxi
If you wish to travel home by taxi, Freephones are located around the hospital for local taxi services.

Travelling by Car
If you wish to travel by car, please be aware that parking at the hospital site is very limited and you should allow yourself plenty of time to find a parking space. At busy times, there may be queues for spaces.
Directions from the M25
- Exit the motorway at junction 10, (signed London (SW), Kingston, Guildford & A3), and take the A3 towards Kingston.
- Exit the A3 at the Coombe Lane Interchange.
- Join the A238 (Coombe Lane).
- Continue down Coombe Lane and turn right at the junction with Galsworthy Road.

Directions from the M3
- Exit the motorway at junction 1 (signed Sunbury, Kingston & A308).
- Join the A308 (following signs for Kingston).
- Continue on the A308 to Kingston and after crossing the River Thames, follow the one way system rejoining the A308 (London Road).
- Turn right onto the A238 (Coombe Road and turn left at the junction with Galsworthy Road.

Parking:
Please note: parking charges are currently suspended.
The camera-operated car parking system (ANPR) will record your car registration as soon as you enter and leave the hospital site.
ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) records the exact time you drive into the hospital. Just park as you would normally, when finished, key in your first three digits of your registration on the meter machine, which will identify your vehicle and inform you how long you have been on site and how much you have to pay.
The car parking system has a grace period designed to ensure that you are not unfairly charged for the time spent finding a parking space or if you are just quickly dropping off or collecting from the site. This grace period is 20 minutes. If you are entering and leaving the site within 20 minutes then no charges will be applicable.
The new system offers a number of payment options, allowing visitors and patients to Pay on Exit:
- Cash
- Credit card (the credit card machine is located inside the main entrance (Bernard Meade Wing)
- Telephone (the first time you call you will need your credit card details and your car registration).
- Download the app – @ https://www.glideparking.com your details on the app. The vehicle will then be auto recognised, and will notify you of the amount to pay, pay within the 24 hrs.
The charging period for the public car parks are from 8.00am to 8.00pm, seven days a week.
The current minimum fee is £2.00 (for the first hour) and £1.50 for each hour thereafter (up to five hours).

- Up to 2 hours £3.50
- Up to 3 hours £5.00
- Up to 4 hours £6.50
- Up to 5 hours £8.00
There is also a daily rate of £10 available which covers you for one calendar day (i.e. payment made at 10am covers you for the remainder of that day)
Please note that vehicles who park on site and do not make payment for the time parked on site will receive a Parking Charge Notice. The Parking Charge Notice fee is £100, reduced to £50 if paid within fourteen days. Full terms and conditions for usage of the car parks are displayed at the entrance to the public car parks.
How to use the new system:
You no longer need to know the time you have parked on site as this will be automatically recorded. You can pay by:
- Credit card (swipe or pin) (the credit card machine is located inside the main entrance (Bernard Meade Wing)
- Download the app – pay by app and follow the instructions.
- Or by coins or notes (which will give change) at one of the payment machines.
To pay on exit:
- Visit one of the payment machines
- Enter your registration and pay the money for the number of hours that has been calculated for the time you have been onsite
- You can ask for a receipt.
Blue Badge Holders
From 1st January 2021 parking will be free onsite for Blue Badge Holders. To benefit from this you will need to be registered with us.
If you are currently registered for the £2 discounted parking rate then your details will automatically transfer over for free parking. Please allow up to 48 hours for your registration to be processed.
